Planning an escape

Tuesday, June 24, 2014

Hotel is booked, flight will surely be an adventure on a military Space-A flight and a good friend will be joining me for the whole trip to Tokyo, Japan!

This is the first time I will be leaving Ricky for  more than a couple of hours since I stopped working. He will be staying with Paul so that automatically makes me feel better, but there is still that small amount of guilt. Why is it that I feel guilty? I deserve a break too, right?

Paul took a hiking trip to Kuai last month and I kept the baby by myself, but maybe that's just expected.  Mothers are suppose to be the nurturers, the care takers and sometimes I feel like I am the caretaker of everyone in the house. That's what is expected of me and all women, even if we don't say it out loud. It's about time we also felt like we DESERVE a break and not feel guilty about it.

I'm going to work on the guilt part...... and of course let you know how it goes.

Summertime

Wednesday, June 18, 2014

It's always nice to forget about all the things that occupy our time, things that can wait. Like the laundry and the dishes and all those things that I had on my list to do this week but instead put on hold. Instead I went to the beach, did some paddle boarding, hiked, and ate lots of food that I probably shouldn't have :)  with my brother who is visiting from California. It was nice to change the routine and it didn't hurt that Paul had a four day weekend. I'm making the best of my last summer is HI.

I hope everyone is having a great summer

Moving on and starting over (again)

Monday, June 9, 2014

Up until last week everything was ready for our move to Georgia and then.... a conversation happened. It took about three days and a lot of hurt feelings, mixed emotions and stress but it ended with the decision that for now California is a better place to move on to. It's not a forever move but we are o.k with that. There will be enough time to worry about the logistics of the whole thing but for now we are just going to worry about enjoying our last 2 months in Hawaii.

10 things to do before we leave the island:

1. Go paddle boarding (again)

2. Take Ricky to a Luau

3. Kayak Kailua

4. Snorkel Hanauma Bay

5,6. Hike this with Ricky

7.  Throw a sandbar Birthday bash

8. Stuff myself with as muck Poke as possible

9. Watch the fireworks downtown every week

10. Enjoy being with these two before the craziness of school and moving begin.

Getting my body back

Thursday, May 22, 2014

I've been absent from my blog for the most part because I always think of something to write and think it's a great idea, when I finally sit down to write it, I draw a blank.

For the other part I've been absent because I went back to working out, not like the usual jog in the morning or walking the dog (although, that counts). It's more like going to the gym twice a day for at least an hour. Next week starts the real torture when I begin my "boot camp" sessions on top of twice a day workouts. Not only am I extremely sore but I also am having the best time, my stress level is way down, I have more energy to do things around the house and play with Ricky.

I really do feel amazing and even  if I never go back to looking like I did before I was pregnant (stretch marks will never go away) I'm okay with that.  Im still the usual me, in classic Gaby mode last night I went to yoga class and since I dressed in a hurry, my yoga pants were inside out! I had dinner about an hour before and all that stretching you know, what happened ( I let one go). I was trying not to laugh out loud and I'm pretty sure everyone heard but you wouldn't know it was me, because I just held my pose like a yoga master. Then I laughed about it all the way home and I am going back next week!

yikes! it's almost the end of May, but better late than never.

I can't get him to stand still, he is on the move and a total mess. I keep telling myself that it's ok that we now have goldfish crackers in every part of our house, we have a dog if I miss some he will find them, right?
