First time at Pray for sex beach, so called because there is a rock out there where someone wrote that. It's the best sunset I have seen on the island.

Ricky got his first haircut and I was nervous about it for no reason, he was great during the whole thing.

It's almost April! I really love the springtime, but that also means summer is around the corner and by the end of this summer we will have to leave Hawaii. That bums me out just a little ok maybe a lot so until then we are out to find new beaches, new food and as much Hawaii as we can.

Hey, look I am finally in a picture! not the best picture but I will take it. This is a beach out on the Coast Guard base.

This was amazing! we found it at the farmers market in Kapiolani.

                                                       awesome Target buy

While channel surfing I discovered Pioneer woman and I LOVE it! she has a blog and a TV show on food network. http://thepioneerwoman.com

I really enjoy supporting little shops, especially Etsy shop and you can read why in one of my old blog posts here. I found this super cute bracelet on SpellingB and I am obsessed with all her jewelry.

Ricky's first birthday is around the corner and he is ready to walk! on that note, I am terrified he bumps around the house all day and he falls a lot! I know it's normal but it's scary.

This is him with his toy walker, he eventually gets distracted by books but he is almost walking.

Anyone, have any suggestions on places to eat and new places to see on Oahu?  I would really appreciate some it, thanks!

Oh S*&^!

I pride myself in not being the kind of mom that swears around my baby, but no one is perfect. There is a routine that I try to follow, Ricky takes naps, he plays, he eats. This is how it works and it makes me mad as heck when Paul tries to change it. I'm already not using curse words, score!

Getting back to the story here, Paul had the day off on Friday and chased Ricky around the  house all day. To me this was comical because I have long realized that resistance is futile so instead I let him loose in a kid safe area of the house and worry about the mess when he takes a nap. Once he wakes up the process begins again and this way I avoid myself the stress of trying to keep the house clutter free while he is still awake.

Paul doesn't get this concept since he is usually at work all day when Ricky is at his maximum energy level. Not only was he becoming frustrated with the toys, dishes and clothes that were strung across the living room but also with Ricky. At some point I finally gave up and turned off Real Housewives of Atlanta ;) ( I love trash TV) long enough to realize the baby was ready for a nap and my husband needed a Valium.

As I carried my little hellion into the bedroom for a nap, I stepped on a dvd disc not only breaking it but cutting my foot open.  All restraint failed me and I yelled " S*&%"!  not two seconds later from Ricky's little innocent baby mouth came the same word. In his little baby voice he clearly said it, Paul and I exchanged a glance but said nothing.

I took Ricky into the bedroom, feed him and put him down for a nap. As soon as I closed the door, I laughed the hardest I have in a looooong time. It's not that I think it was right or that it should be repeated but it was just too funny. Paul and I agreed to cut the swearing and he hasn't said it since.

Later I realized that my baby is not so much a baby anymore, this little thing that needs me so much for his daily needs will soon be able to communicate his needs with words and that is really an OH S*&^! moment for me.

What happens when you get a 6 month old, a ten month old and a 9 month old in the same room?
A big mess, lots of smiles and tears.

Managed to get a picture with all of us in it, what I love most about it is how Paul and Ricky have the same look on their face.

No words needed

Don't feel much like writing, this was how last week went for us. Went down to Waikiki for the Honolulu festival, the fireworks were great. Finally feeling at home in our new apartment, also feeling nostalgic about leaving Hawaii in a couple of months :( Enjoying it while I still can. Here is the view from our new place!

A post thats NOT about babies or motherhood

We have been keeping busy around here with visitors from out of town, teething and our fast approaching move. This past week one of my friends from my very first days in the Army came to visit me. We had a great time BUT I also realized a couple of things, before we get to that part here are some   pictures of her visit.

I really need to start getting into some of these pictures

The unpleasant fact that came to light while she was visiting, happened the night  that Paul stayed home with baby and I got to have a night out on the town with some friends. After a night of dancing and good food we settled into conversing about our days in the service and quickly realized that as many stories about adventures and visiting foreign countries all three of us also had a story about being SEXUALLY HARASSED. I am not one to talk about hot button issues or get involved in candid affairs, everyone has an opinion and it should be respected but having lived it and knowing that so many other women have experienced it, leads me to believe that its a very real problem.

From my very limited seven years of service I can safely say that not only have I been invited out on dates by people who were my superiors as well as approached inappropriately by people who were my fellow soldiers. It always surprised me how casually these things seemed to happen and no one cared. It's sad to say but by around year thee it no longer surprised me and to be honest, it was expected. At some point it was even normal to me and I decided to just live with it and ignore it.

The biggest deal in any place I ever served was always staying safe, making sure you didn't get raped, harassed or got drunk without a buddy to help you get home safe. The amazing thing is, it always seemed ridiculous to me until I heard about these things happening and personally know women that it happened to. When I joined the Army it never occurred to me that this would be something I was signing up for.
